Please get your facts straight before posting information like this. I am a disciple of Jesus, and when people put information on the web that isn't accurate, it makes ALL of us look bad. I am trying to win souls for Christ, and that is where your focus should also be. Let's stop judging people and pointing the finger at them, and start loving them.
Luke 6:37 - "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."
1Corinthians 4:5 - "Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God."
Not Judging
It is not judging when you tell of something that some one said (mocking God)
The whole Bible is writen for our example even the bad that they did, it is for our warning not do what they did.
So I don't see how you can call it, judging them, who mocked God and died, prob before they should have.
The point was not about judging it was about those who mocked God and payed... so will anyone else who does the same...

However, in another response someone commented that if something that was stated is inaccurate then that should be corrected.

If this post will prevent people from accepting Christ through your evangelism, then the problem isn't with the post but with you. I have used this post to encourage the brethren, strengthen the weak and preach to people. Have you forgotten what Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:11, wherein he said "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences"? Remember that people may question your relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and may not want to identify with him if your way of life is contrary to the message of the Cross that you preach. Men need to be told that the same loving God is also a God of justice who will met out His full wrath and fury on the wicked and sinners if they refuse to repent (Psalm 7:11). Let us be truthful, dear.
It's not about judging
It's not about judging others,we have no right to do that especially seeing as we all fall short of God's glory.
It's about learning from what we see happening around us.
I have first hand experience about a person who mocked God and died in freak accident a short time later.
I knew a man through a freind of mine,who was a very wealthy man,nothing wrong with that.
One day we three chatting about some common interests and he made a statement "I've got more money than God's got sheep"
and two weeks later he fell from a 15th storey building to his death. He was an air conditioning contractor so he was not in a an unusual position.
God loves us all dearly but He won't allow mere man to mock Him, and so many are doing this.
Some die now, some die later and we'll all die when Jesus returns to earth to fetch His children, but it doesn't matter when those other people died, they all died to God's salvation for what they said and done.

That is stating facts, and may help someone to not do it.
We are to witness, but God did not say we were bound to witnessing,He is not in a bubble, we can call sin sin, and how do you win souls for Christ, if you dont call sin what it is?

Dont be deceived
I hope we still remember what happened to Ananaias and Saphera, how about King Herold in Act 12, do we say then that God has changed? my friend, Hebrew says that God is a consuming fire and we should just be careful and know that God does not and cannot share His glory with anyone. It is true we preach repentance but if it will take God to do certain things to make examples out of people, He will do it. If God could destroy the world of Noah, burn Sodom and Gommorah and destroy the house of Abiram He can do more and more.
All the same God is loving and will always accept whoever come to Him in repentance but He protects and guard's His name jealously.
A healthy "FEAR" or "respect" for God is also needed!
God is love - true. But we all must have the respect for God as well because He is "FEARFUL" in battle. He is not one's pal where you can use His name to put yourself "above" Him, or challenge Him that He is not alive or "mighty".
That I believe is the message of the initial post. If the facts are not true then please let us ask it to be rectified.(Granted this post, from the reactions above, touched different nerves in different people, so it is good to have different opinions and views on it)
To add strength to the "Healthy Respect" view . There are countless testimonies of people doubting that God exists and then "challenging" God to prove Himself as a "real" (living) God to them personally. Then soon that person is a converted Christian who NO longer doubt that God exists. (THAT is the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit.)
Humiliating God in public by putting yourself above Him, is a different story.
One CANNOT touch God's "GLORY" (by taking it for yourself without His permission)
THEN do not then expect God NOT to take action.

God is love and He is real.
I don't know if the above statements are true or not, but one thing I can tell you, God is real.
I know the point is that we must think about how we put ourselves above God, as if he doesn't exist and we don't need him.
So to be honest maybe just maybe we all will be careful on what we think God is or God is not and just maybe the god they believed in provided them with the results they got and not the loving and longsuffering God I know .
God Is Not Mocked
God will not be mocked, for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he reap. We cannot expect to curse Him or use his name in vain, or discourage other people from believing in Him. Even the Lord of Glory, Jesus Christ gave us a warning: " Any man who causes his little children to be offended in Him, better had he tied a milestone and rope around his neck, and cast himself into the sea. I take that warning seriously. I don't mess with kids, nor God's kids. Vengence is mine said the Lord, I will repay. Only the "Fool" has said in his heart, "there is no God." People, God is not playing with you. He means what He says. He is a jealous God, and nobody will have any other Gods before Him. Amen. Repent, or you will all likewise perish the way those people did who mocked Him. Amen.
RE:Famous people mocking God
Just a word of caution. I don't believe your intentions were dark but I do think that you have been misled by darkness.
Our GOd is loving and not vengefull I don't believe for one minute that He would want those people to die lost. If you think about it, don't you think it would be a perfect oppertunity for Satan to strike. Why?
1) Proove that God is not kind and loving by making people think that it was God that killed these people for mocking Him.
2)Remember Satan and his servants don't know what we are thinking, they can assume, and they are brilliant at it as they are so much more intellegent than we are. Remember they were angels cast out of the heavens. Now they have a person mocking God and Jesus out load Don't you think it might be considered a perfect oppertunity for them?
Remember Satan is an expert at no.1 convincing people that he does not exist. Think of all the havoc you can sow if you 'don't exist'. No.2 Changing untruths to make it look true, to confuse us.
I think it would be a wonderfull oppertunity to use this BLog for good. Don't get angry and upset at the responses you received. Good can come from this, I can feel it in my spirit. Pray and let God lead you.
NOte: You are also absolutely right that your examples proove that God exits. Think about it, If this prooves that Satan is a very active and alive being then God has to exist!
Famous people mocking God: How HE responded in the past...
Look at Numbers 21, the people criticised Moses and God. God, then sent fiery serpent and killed many of thier family members and friends. God did not stop until they repented. We know God is love, but we are leading people down the wrong path when we only preach the loving forgiving part of God. I am sure that God used the death of the people to turn those unbeliever that witnessed it to him.
Well, Lizz - YES Respect God, remember He is still "GOD"
Yes, you can be sorta right here, but again, remember God is a God of vengeance. There are many examples in the Bible, where God did take vengeance. Remember Noah and the Ark? Look how the people laughed and mocked Noah for building an ark, and well, pretty much acting the same way the world is today...?
This is just one example. I can think of many. King David surely suffered because of his sin, but he was favored of God, so I think he was spared by God.
Yes, I believe what you are saying, God is a loving God, but God is also a God of vengeance, we don't know how what happened in these examples above, but I know I wouldn't mock God, or say any such thing, as I'd be afraid my life to would end suddenly. That's the worlds problem today, there is no fear of God!

If you look carefully into the examples you mentioned there were other reasons for human destruction than plain vengeance. God says in His word that we should be careful of using human characteristics to describe Him.
I would also not mock God, not out of fear for loosing my life for doing so, but rather out of love and respect for Him and out of fear for God, not fear of loosing my life in this world.

Here is the other thing you also need to be aware of. Most people don't even pay attention to one very critical element of Christianity. Spiritual Warfare. All God had to do in any one of these cases is to lift his protection from those in these cases that lost their lives. I can attest personally from my own life prior to being saved how much God watched over me even then, when I wanted nothing to do with him. His Word also says he will give grace to whom he will give grace and show mercy to whom he will show mercy. In each of these cases, my belief is simply God lifted his protection from these people as in saying, "See how far you can get without me at all."
Another example: Look at the hurricane's in the Gulf the last two years. Especially with Katrina, if we lived in a country where God was honored and revered, do you really think these things we have seen would have really happened? If we were a nation today that looked to God as our forefathers did, would 9/11 have ever happened? Think about it people, the bible says that there are consequences for our actions. No one is perfect and for those that do seek to know the Lord I know he is more than gracious. But for those who mock God or mock those who do their best to get to know him and his ways, think back to Numbers 12. Remember when Aaron and Miriam mocked Moses by speaking against him? Remember what happened to Miriam? She was turned into a leper. So for those who would say what God would or would not do be very careful. Refer to 1 Cor. 2:6-16

You can do a scientific experiment trying to prove that God doesn't exist or will not harm his mockers, but those 50 people who say God sucks can truly believe inside or maybe just have the slightest believe that God exists and that is maybe why He wouldn't harm them.. When Nothing Happens To Mockers
I will say this about people who have mocked God and nothing happened. There is also a truth revealed in the bible, "A fool's life is prolonged only up until the time for judgement." This is paraphrased, but is nevertheless true. Ask yourself this question. When all of those who stand before Christ to be judged, and they ask Him the question, "why didn't you do anything to those who mocked you many times, and you didn't do anything to them?" They would have answered their own question. The answer to that question is, "God is indeed Longsuffering." I have never mocked God, even in the days of my unbelief and ignorance. I knew better, and I know better now. Those people who died as a result of their mockery against God is a warning and sign to all of us. If you read the book of ACTS in the bible. Find the passage where it explains what happened to the married couple who held back part of their possession, and lied about it to the apostle of Jesus. They fell dead immediately and was burried. God is not slack concerning his promises. His Word is sharper than any double-edged sword. All those Christians who talk about how merciful God is seem to imply that He is not also vengeful. He is a God of vengeance, a God of righteous judgement. terrible in His mighty works, unsearchable in his ways, and whatsoever a man sows, that will he reap. period. Yes, and I will say this also. All of those who doubt God's existence better hold their tongue. There is an old saying, that what you don't know can, and will hurt you.
The last warning I have for those who doubt His existence, "TOUCH NOT MINE ANOINTED."
Once you accept that God exists, it becomes easier
Well, for me once you believed that every living and non-living things here on earth and in the whole universe do have a creator, you then also believe even unconciously that GOD realy exist.
The chellenge for us as human beings is to try and understnd God. The moemnt you can understand im you immediately reduce Him to facts. He will not allow it. Therefore God is a mistery and will always be. too big for us to understand with our limited brain.
I dont know if you heard the story of a man who has so many questions about GOD, here's how it goes
One day when he walks along the sea shore, he saw a boy digging and making a well, then the boy started getting water from the sea and pouring it in the well he made, then the man ask the boy, What are you doing? The boy responded "Im going to take all the waters from the sea and put it here" the man laughed and continue walking, when he turned around, the boy was gone. Then he realizes that the well is like our brain we can feed and feed and feed our brain with so many knowledge like the well he can pour and pour and pour water in it, but the well cannot be filled full. But the SEA is the answers, unlimited answers and we cannot take it all.
Better experiment
I've got a better experiment: you live as an atheist and I live as a Christian. When the times comes for us to die then we will see. If nothing happens and it's all over then my Christian living stopped at death. On the other hand if there is heaven and he'll and I go to heaven and u find that there was really a heaven and a God what a Terrible day for you and joyous day for me. I hypothesize that there is a God. But if I'm wrong I have lost nothing but simply lived a life by Christian principles besides there is no harm in Christian living. But if I was right... Woe unto you. What a loss! Christians live by the word of God (the bible) which teaches that a fool has said in his heart there is no God. Let the experiment begin.

One of the very famous monks in Sri Lanka, Gangodawila Soma Thero. Who started to mock God & tried to introduce a fake theory, which is against God & His people. He tried to protest against God but suddenly he was removed from the face of this earth on 12 December 2003 in his 56th year when he traveled to Russia. His body came back to Sri Lanka. Sri Lankans were shocked and saddened by his death. But true Christians know why he got that reply from God.

Mocking God: Some biblical perspectives
I think that those who stand for God concerning this post has very valid points. Some of which has dampened my initial view of it as right. Yes God explicitly that vengence is His and He will repay. Yes God is a god of mercy and He is a forgiving and loving God. Yes God does strike down...look in any of the books of the bible in the old testament where people were destroyed for various things i.e. Sodom and Gomorah, several Kings because they failed to obey and they did evil in the sight of God. Now in reference to 9/11 and other catastrophic events that have happened, none of these events were just random, or unknown to God, He already knew, they did not take Him by surprise. However, when you look deeper into any of these events I think that they were judgements on America as a nation. You cannot pray away God's judgement(Romans 1) Even so with these people, them losing their lives in such horrific ways is possibly, could be, maybe God's judgement upon them. Then again, who really knows BUT God? And to the comment of judgement: I know that the bible says that we should not judge because we condemn ourselves if we condemn others and WE are doing the same thing.(Romans 2:1) However, believers, saints are the ones who will judge the world according to 1Corinthians 6:2. We will also judge the angels 1 Cor 6:3. So when done appropriately according to the word, which is judgement based on truth because that is how God judges, we are in our biblical right to do so. But when doing it to expose others for something we are doing privately is condemnation to ourselves.

As believers and servants of God, act with love
As believers and servants of the Most High God, we are to love God with all our hearts, minds, and soul, and love one another as we love ourselves. When an enemy strikes us,(physically or otherwise) we are to turn the other cheek, for "vengeance is mine, says the Lord" We are to pray for those that hate us, do good to those that would harm us, bless those that curse us. In other words, exactly the opposite of what our human nature would dictate us to do. Do not sue one another. When loaning someone money, don't charge interest. If someone asks for help, give it willingly, cheerfully, and abundantly. But above all, give it with love. for if there is no love, there is nothing. Another note. We are not to gloat/brag of our salvation, nor "rub" it in other peoples faces, as if we had anything to do with our being saved, for it is only by the grace of God that we are saved, as we are completely undeserving of such grace. As for myself, i readily, yet shamefully admit falling short of being a "good" christian. Daily, i face problems and temptations. Sometimes i am triumphant in my endeavors to overcome these problems and temptations, ranging from lust to drug use, coveting my neighbors success to disrespecting the leaders of our government, but more often than not, i fail miserably, and at the end of the day, i am usually in my room, head hanging in shame, confessing my sins and praising God for his mercy.
Our Part in God's Plan!!
Many people today likewise believe there is nothing they need to do to be saved. Preachers have taught them that God will do all the work. There is nothing to do except believe in God and "pray the sinners prayer." Specifically, they deny that baptism is necessary, because it is something you do. Unquestionably, we cannot earn salvation, and nothing we do could save us if Jesus had not died and made salvation possible. By dying He gave us the opportunity to be saved. But in order for us to receive His forgiveness, He requires us to obey Him. All around us are souls dying, drowning in an ocean of sin and evil.

The only hope for the world is to receive the forgiveness God offers through Jesus Christ. He Cares about these souls. God's word repeatedly warns of the dangers of sin. God says we must repent and turn from evil.
Our Part in God's Plan
According to Scripture, we receive forgiveness by confessing our sin(s). If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.

Never before in my 20 odd years of being on this earth have I ever felt the the strongest desire and need want to serve God and praise God for literally delivering from the grips of the evil one!!... I am a living testimony that there is a God! and he is so down to kick it if you open your heart and trust in him completely (not half heartedly... point; you can't serve two masters....)
Those who doubt God.... don't!!! stay close to him and he will lighten your burden... He WILL take the pain away... maybe not the physical pain but the spiritual pain. He WILL give you peace.... TRUST ME!! I KNOW!!.... I came out of a sickness that pretty much only my faith, my family's strong faith, my God and the power of prayer could of saved me from.... putting it bluntly those who have seen the movie about the story of Emily Rose who was possesed by the devil... well yeah... I was possesed by Satan the prick! he basically took almost everything away from me... my mind, my body. I couldn't even write, couldn't read; my speech was all jumbo'd up, I was slurring my words out... but the only thing the evil one could not take from me was what was deep down in my heart, my soul... JESUS!!! Throughout the two months I spent in hospital anything clear that came out of my mouth was praises to God... singing "I surrender all to Jesus, all to him I freely give..." one of my doctors told my mother that they had spent upto thousands of dollars on tests trying to diagnose me with a medical term.... but found nothing... goes to show science only goes so far.... then comes God!!!... I was transferred to three different hospitals... the first I actually dont remember at all, I have just been told of my stay there... Now this all happened last year... My mother spoke on Spiritual warfare and the following week was when I started my spiritual battle.
All I know is that a life without GOD, is a life without living!!... there is like SO much more I have God to thank for... He still amazes me!!

I believe andi feel that we should read the bible to understand He gives us the power to heal , cast out demonds with the power of our words, etc
So if you believe that , then we could touch God Glory everyday as we , walk , sing , speak, dance, ect.
But as stated above, all those didnt do it to bring Glory to God, which I believe is the big difference.

God is real
Man kind should all try to developed a personal relationship with God, you have to believe and reach out to him. I have so many testimonies of what my God did and is doing in my life right now. if you just call upon him saying Lord I accept and admitted that you are my creator and I will serve you to the end.
Just be true to God and you will see His miracles in your life. For me, I am a living testimony.
God will NOT be mocked
I see some comments above that make my heart bleed. People should endevour to READ the BIBLE, it is the Book where God reveals himself. Some people only want to hear about the goodness and love of God, but they fail to understand that He also has a judgement side to His character. God is Eternal and His Power has no Limit.
NO one can ask Him what doth thou?

In the Bible those who challenge the authority of his servant Moses, though they were His children, He allow the earth to open up and swallow them alive. A Levite took a spear in his hand and went into a tent where a man was committing furnication with a woman and pierced the spear into the man and woman and killed them instantly. God commended his action and give him an everlasting promise... Anybody who worships God must fear,respect and obey Him because all of me are like grass before Him. Let those who want to live in their comfort zone STOP discouraging others who may give their lives to Jesus because of what the stories above hold...
God is not to be Mocked
DEAR BROTHRS AND SISTERS, WE SERVE AN ALLMIGHTY GOD WHO IS NOT TO BE MOCKED. THE FACT THAT MANY PEOPLE GET STUCK ON GOD IS LOVE AND LEAVE IT THERE is purely ignorance inspired from satan. Satan would have you believe God is Love and leave it there. God is Love and He is a God of Wrath and a Jealous God. Any Mockery of God will be Dealt with by Him. We reap what we sow. God also knows our hearts when we are being sincere or not.
God doesnt want us to judge the person but the deed or fruits need to be judged. How do we tell if somebody is a child of God? By looking at their fruits.If the Love of God is in them you will see it clearly. The apostle paul also said, if a brother be taken with a fault, help him right out of Love. That is not Judging. God said if we see somebody doing something wrong and leave them in their sin, we are responsible for their blood. but if we help them right and something happens their blood is on their own hands. Ezekiel 33:1-9
1Corinthians 4:5 - "Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God."
The above has been taken out of context. The Lord says Test every spirit. If you are not sure about something,leave it to one side before you say it is from God or Not. The Lords light will reveal it in Good time and expose the darkness that is in our world. Satan is the father of all lies and will have you believe certain things which we think to be obedient to God but actually its so far from Gods Truth its scary. How do we beat a lie, with the undiluted truth of God, The Holy Bible. Jesus is the Light and the Truth and the Truth shall set us Free.

Did God kill them?
The facts presented by the writer of the article are just that FACTS. they can easily be substaniated... so those of you saying "don't judge" are missing the point... also those of you acting as if God killed them out of spite need to read their Bibles.

No I do not believe so... I believe that when God is directly and clearly told to get out of your life, that He like a true gentlemen will because He has to. And without Him in your life Satan is allowed to destroy you... but God sometimes says "Satan I cannot stop you, so and so has made it clear they don't want me, but the trunk is spared. God did not destroy these people, they did by rejecting the only one sustaining life, truth and that which is good in this life.
The point here, and the point I believe and hope the author intended, should be to show how dangerous it is to reject Christ in your life... not because He will zap you if you do... but because if you do you are rejecting the only one in this life who can protect you from the evil one.
